The total budget of the film was Rs 40 lakh, which earned seven times more at the box office than Rs 3 crore in India. According to Wikipedia, the lifetime collection of the film was Rs 19.53 crore, which was a blockbuster.
Directed by Ramesh Sippy, this film was remade in Telugu as Ganga Manga in 1973. Whereas in 1974, it was remade in Tamil language with the name Vani Rani, in both of which actress Vanisari was seen.
