The artist we are talking about here is Firoz Khan, who is called the handsome actor of the industry. Also, one thing is said about Firoz that he was very firm on his principles. Once he decided, he definitely did it. Once a big director had to make a lot of efforts to convince him.

Firoz Khan was born on 25 September 1939. Firoz Khan’s birth name was Zulfiqar Ali Shah Khan. Firoz, who did more than 60 films, was called the style icon of Bollywood. In the year 1960, he entered the world of acting through the film ‘Didi’. After this he played side or negative characters for many years.

Gradually Firoz Khan established his foothold in the film world and gave many hit films one after the other. The film of Firoz that we are talking about is the film ‘Welcome’ which was released on 21 December 2007. This film was directed by Anees Bazmee. Firoz Khan was his first and last choice for the role of Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor’s senior ‘RDX’ in the film.

Anees had earlier worked with Firoz Khan’s son Fardeen Khan in the film ‘No Entry’, hence he had good relations with the Khan family. In an interview given to Cinestaan, Anees had said, ‘I did not want to cast anyone else in the role of ‘RDX’ except Firoz Sahab. When I told him about the role for the first time, he refused. I went to his house 12 to 15 times and every time he refused to do the role.

Anees further said, ‘Actually Firoz Saheb was afraid that the character of ‘RDX’ was contrary to his image. Every time he would refuse the film on some pretext or the other. After many efforts, he agreed and our team left for Dubai. But once again Firoz Sahab changed his mind and refused to come to the shoot. I was also adamant and said that if you do not come then I will call my team back from Dubai. Then Firoz Sahab came and shot his part in Dubai and Mumbai and the rest is history..’

Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar played lead roles in the 2007 film ‘Welcome’. The film proved to be a blockbuster on the big screen and Firoz’s character ‘RDX’ was much liked. Made with a budget of Rs 32 crore, this film did a business of more than Rs 117 crore. Let us tell you that Firoz Saheb died on 27 April 2009 at the age of 69.
