Greater Noida: Workers kept dying in agony, people kept making video of the accident when the lift fell.

Greater Noida, Jagran correspondent. The painful incident of lift collapse in the under construction Amrapali Dream Valley Builder project in Greater Noida West has shocked everyone. According to eyewitnesses, even after half an hour had passed since the incident, no one could muster the courage to go near.

People kept dying in agony

People kept making videos while standing at a distance and the workers kept dying in agony. The workers were on their way to work at the construction site when the incident occurred. Suddenly there was a huge explosion, hearing which people got scared. People started gathering near the incident site. People were not able to understand what to do.

Contractors switched off their phones

When some of the workers called their contractors and informed them about the incident, the contractors switched off their phones instead of informing the police administration. Tharoor, a worker who was involved in taking out the seriously injured people including the deceased, after a lot of effort, said that he lives with his family in an under-construction flat a few steps away from the incident site.

Construction work in the project takes place even at night. He works in the same under-construction tower in which the elevator collapse accident took place. His duty was at night and he was sleeping when the accident occurred. Suddenly there was a loud noise. When I came out, I saw a gathering of people.

People could not muster the courage to go near

For half an hour no one could muster the courage to go near the incident site. When some people called and informed their respective contractors about the accident, they switched off their phones. Some people along with him gathered courage and tried to take out the people trapped in the lift. One young man among the dead died in agony in front of their eyes, while three people had already died before they could be taken out of the lift.

Let us tell you that there were a total of nine people in the lift. Like everyday, work was going on on Friday morning too, but as soon as the workers boarded the lift and reached the 8th floor, suddenly the lift broke and fell down. Four people died on the spot when the lift fell down, while five people were injured.
