‘If you bite, bones will turn into powder’, how dangerous is the American Bully Dog which is banned in Britain – American xl bully dogs dangerous britain rishi sunak ban bully dogs ntc pryd
Britain has banned an American breed dog. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that the American XL Bully Dog is being banned. This decision has been taken after the recent increasing incidents of dog attacks.
Sunak released a video on social media site X and said, ‘American XL bully dogs are a danger to our society, especially children.’
American XL Bully Dog is counted among the dangerous dogs. It is believed that they get angry after some time. They have so much strength that if they bite someone, their bones will be shattered.
This breed of dogs came to the UK only eight-ten years ago. Their popularity increased significantly during the Covid pandemic. However, they are not registered with the UK Kennel Club. Not only Britain, the International Canine Club and the American Kennel Club have also not recognized these dogs.
These dogs are made from cross breeding
American Bully and Pitbull dogs are usually considered the same. But it is not so. American Bully Dogs are the result of cross breeding. It is said that American Bully Dogs originated after cross breeding of at least five different breeds of dogs.
The American Pitbull Terrier is the parent breed of these dogs. They originated in the 1980s. But to make it a more muscular dog, breeding was done with dogs of other breeds.
There are four types of American Bully Dogs. Standard, Pocket, XL and Classic. Standards are of medium size, whose height is 16 to 20 inches. Pokégas are the smallest size and are only 13 to 16 inches high. The height of XL size dogs is 19 to 23 inches. The size of classic dogs is also equal to XL.
Fierce enough to shatter bones
The American Bully Dog was bred to be used as hunting dogs. Breeders believe that dogs of this breed learn quickly.
But their anger is very dangerous. For this reason most people do not like them. Many breeders also believe that if they are not reared or taught properly, they can be very dangerous.
The London-based Bully Watch Group claims that between 2021 and 2023, 14 people have died in attacks by American bully dogs.
Richard Barker, consultant surgeon of Britain’s National Health System, says that if an XL Bully bites, the wounds it causes are more serious than the bites of other dog breeds. Their bite can tear the skin and completely shatter the bones. They say that the damage caused by their bites can never be cured.
That’s why there is a demand for a ban on these dogs
Last week, a girl was attacked by an American XL bully dog in Birmingham. This dog also attacked two people who came to save the girl. All three were badly injured in this.
A few days later, a man was also attacked by a dog in Stonal, resulting in his death. According to BBC report, it was an American XL Bully Dog.
In May this year, a 37-year-old dog caretaker died near Manchester. During investigation, the police had recovered 15 dogs of American XL Bully Dogs from here. It was believed that it might have died due to an attack by these dogs.
In March last year, a 17-year-old girl in Merseyside was also killed by a dog of the same breed. The girl’s family had bought an American XL Bully breed dog just a week ago for fostering.
In June this year, Conservative Party MP John Hayes raised the issue in the House of Commons and demanded an immediate ban on dogs of this breed. However, the Kennel Club then argued that the problem of dog bites was caused by irresponsible owners and that a ban would not solve it.
The American Bully Dog is the fifth breed to be banned in the UK. Earlier, Pitbull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino and Fila Brasileiro have been banned in the UK.
There is a ban in these countries also
American bully dogs are banned in many countries. Ireland has included dogs of this breed in the category of ‘Bandog’. This means that if a person walks these dogs in public, he should have a mask on his mouth at that time.
It is also illegal to own an American Bully in Türkiye. Apart from this, the United Arab Emirates has also banned the buying, selling and breeding of these dogs.
There is no ban in India
American Bully Dogs are not banned in India. The price of a dog of this breed can range from 30 to 80 thousand rupees. It depends on the age, size and color of the dog.
Actually, breeders consider them to be good pet dogs. But at the same time they also advise that the dogs of this breed should be trained properly.
American Bully Dogs can become aggressive when they see other dogs. They may get angry even after seeing others, which can make it difficult to handle the situation. Since these are muscular dogs with strength, they are difficult to handle.
One problem with dogs of this breed is that they are very stubborn. Once they decide to do something, they keep doing it. Then they don’t even listen to their boss.
