According to the information, two assault rifles, four magazines, 90 cartridges, a pistol and Rs 2100 in Pakistan currency were recovered from the infiltrators killed in Kupwara.
According to the information received here, soldiers patrolling in Kumkari Haihama area along the LoC in Machhal sector under District Kupwara, saw a group of infiltrators coming towards Indian territory from Ghulam Jammu Kashmir (POK) in the early hours of today.
Encounter between soldiers and terrorists
At the same time, the soldiers took up their positions, alerting the nearby posts and checkpoints. The infiltrators armed with automatic weapons came forward.
The soldiers challenged them and asked them to surrender. As soon as they heard the challenge of the soldiers, the infiltrators started firing and the slaves started running back towards Jammu and Kashmir. The soldiers also retaliated. With this the encounter started there.

Defense Ministry spokesperson said that anti-terrorist operation is going on in Machhal. Two terrorists are reported to have been killed. The exact number of killed terrorists and their identity will be known only after the operation is over.
Two terrorist hideouts destroyed in Tral
