southampton: On the basis of Liam Livingstone’s unbeaten innings of 95 runs in 78 balls, England scored 226 runs for seven wickets in 34 overs in the rain-affected second match of the 4-match ODI series. He hit 9 fours and one six in his innings. Earlier, in front of the brilliant bowling of Trent Boult, England had lost 3 wickets for 8 runs in 4.2 overs. Boult made his 100th ODI memorable by dismissing Jonny Bairstow (six), Joe Root (0) and Ben Stokes (one). Due to rain this match was reduced to 34 overs.

After this, England also lost the wicket of Matt Henry (two) cheaply, due to which the team’s score became 28 runs for four wickets. Captain Jos Buttler played an aggressive inning of 30 runs in 25 balls, taking the team past 50 runs but got caught in the spin of Mitchell Santner due to which the team lost five wickets for 55 runs. Livingstone, who came to bat at seventh position, made partnerships of 48 runs with Moeen Ali (33) and 112 runs with Sam Curran (42) to get the team out of the difficult situation. This is Livingstone’s second consecutive half-century innings. He played an inning of 52 runs in 40 balls in the first match of the series.
