Manipur Indian Army Soldier Kidnapped From His Home And Killed In Imphal West
Army Murder in Manipur: The body of an Indian Army soldier was found in East Imphal district on Sunday (17 September). Giving information, the police said that some armed people had kidnapped that army soldier. According to the police officer, the army soldier had come to his home on leave, from where he was kidnapped. His name was Serto Thangthang Kom.

“Three armed men abducted Serto Thangthang Kom, 49, of the Defense Service Corps (DSC) at gunpoint on Saturday (September 16) from his house at Tarung in Happy Valley in Imphal West district,” the police officer said. His bullet-riddled body was found in Khuningthek village east of Imphal East district on Sunday.
Indian Army condemned the killing
Police said that the soldier is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son. His last rites will be performed as per the wishes of the family. An army team reached the house of the deceased soldier to provide all possible assistance to his family. The Indian Army strongly condemned this cowardly murder and said, ‘The Army will stand with his bereaved family in this difficult time.’
Was appointed in DSC a few years ago
Deceased jawan Thangthang was re-appointed to DSC a few years ago after taking voluntary retirement from the 8th Assam Regiment. He had gone home on leave and had to join duty on Monday. His wife Somivon Kom said that their family is living in Happy Valley area for the education of their two children.
Serto Ahou Kom, president of Kom Union Manipur (KUM), said, ‘The Kom tribal community is a minority in Manipur. It is a peace-loving society and does not include or discriminate against any community.
