Parliament Special Session Live Updates: The special session of Parliament is proving to be historic in the true sense. The Women’s Reservation Bill was first introduced by the Modi government and then passed by the Lok Sabha. Today the bill will be presented in Rajya Sabha. When this bill becomes law, there will be 33 percent reservation for women.

After a long debate of 8 hours in the Lok Sabha, the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill was passed. After a wait of almost 27 years, the Women’s Reservation Bill was finally passed by the Lok Sabha. Today the bill will be presented in the Rajya Sabha where it will be discussed.

Who voted against the women’s reservation bill?

Under the bill, there is a provision to reserve 33 percent seats for women in the lower house of Parliament and state assemblies. A total of 454 votes were cast in support of the bill and 2 against it. AIMIM MPs Asaduddin Owaisi and Imtiaz Jaleel voted against the women’s reservation bill. As soon as the bill was passed, a credit war has started between the parties and the opposition. BJP is patting itself on the back for passing the bill.

When the bill was passed, the opposition also described the day as historic, but in the meantime, a new political controversy has been created by bringing up the issue of OBC reservation.
