Special session of Parliament: What surprise will Modi give now?

Special session of Parliament: What surprise will Modi give now?

Narendra Modi has had one specialty since becoming Prime Minister in 2014. The media is not aware of his important decisions and plans in advance. Calling a special session of Parliament is not a normal thing. Obviously, the market of speculation is hot. From the public to political pundits are just speculating on social media. According to speculations, the five things which are most likely to happen in the special session of Parliament are as follows:

  • There may be a decision to give preference to ‘Bharat’ among the official names of the country – India and Bharat. This discussion has also been started by the ruling camp.
  • The long pending Women’s Reservation Bill can be introduced in Parliament once again.
  • There is also a possibility of a decision regarding the Rohini Commission report on reservation for backward castes.
  • The status of full state of Jammu and Kashmir can be restored. The government had given such indications during the hearing in the Supreme Court.
  • A resolution thanking PM Modi on the success of the G20 summit can be passed.

Parliament will test opposition unity in special session

Parliament will test opposition unity in special session

The special session of Parliament is very important from strategic point of view for both NDA and INDIA alliances. It will be interesting to see whether the constituent parties of India come together to corner the government or will raise their voices separately on their respective issues. BJP is constantly trying to hurt the credibility of the opposition alliance by saying that there is no harmony among these parties. How the MPs of the parties fighting each other in the states unite within the House is a big question.

PM Modi has also rewarded the opposition alliance with adjectives like ‘arrogant’. BJP leaders say that ‘the opposition alliance is full of contradictions in which the Congress is fighting the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi and Punjab, the Left parties in Kerala, Mamata Banerjee is completely against the Left in West Bengal and so on. The situation is similar in many other states of the country and every leader included in the alliance aspires to become the Prime Minister.
