In a statement issued by the Congress, Rahul was quoted as saying, “Recently while visiting Wayanad, I had the pleasant experience of visiting the factory of one of the most famous brands of Ooty – Modi’s Chocolates.” The entrepreneurial story of Muralidhar Rao and his wife Swati behind this small business is inspiring.

The Congress leader said that the team of women working with the couple is equally wonderful and the best chocolates I have ever tasted, prepared by a dedicated team of 70 women.

“However, Modi’s, like countless other small and medium enterprises across India, is bearing the brunt of the ‘Gabbar Singh Tax’,” he added.

Rahul emphasized that to save these MSMEs who collectively contribute significantly to India’s development, there is a need to take mandatory measures like implementing a uniform rate of GST and building industrial hubs.

He said that such a women led team deserves all kind of support.

In the video shared by Rahul, he is seen making chocolates and interacting with the female employees working in the factory.

Sharing the video of Rahul’s visit to the chocolate factory, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh in a post on social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) said, “Rahul Gandhi visiting a chocolate factory in Ooty, taking forward the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Reached, which is run by women. He interacted with them, listened to their experiences, appreciated their hard work and understood their problems.

Ramesh wrote, “The words of people associated with small, small and medium industries should be heard in the same way. They need help.
