Congress On Women Reservation Bill: Modi Cabinet approved the Women’s Reservation Bill on Monday (September 18). Sources said that this bill related to 33 percent reservation can be presented in Parliament tomorrow (Tuesday, September 19). Proceedings will begin for the first time in the new Parliament on Tuesday itself.
After the cabinet meeting, Union Minister of State for Food Processing Prahlad Patel said that only the Modi government had the moral courage to fulfill the demand for women’s reservation. Which was proved with the approval of the cabinet.
Congress has welcomed this decision of the cabinet. Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh said, “The Congress party has been demanding the implementation of women’s reservation for a long time. We welcome the Union Cabinet decision reportedly coming forward and look forward to the details of the Bill. This could have been thoroughly discussed in the all-party meeting before the special session and a consensus could have been reached instead of behind-the-scenes politics.
Congress wrote on social media platform X, “Rajiv Gandhi ji wanted women to come forward and participate strongly in the country’s politics. He believed that the social and economic status of women should be strengthened. 30% women’s reservation in Panchayati Raj is a strong example of this.
Let us tell you that 78 women members have been elected in the current Lok Sabha, which is less than 15 percent of the total number of 543. This bill has been approved to increase the participation of women in Parliament and Legislative Assemblies.
